Going on a Bear Hunt...Part 1

I have been doing activities surrounding Michael Rosens 'Going on a Bear Hunt' in the school where I work.....
So as usual my two lives over lap and we went to see the puppet show.... Fabulous show, I took the three girls and they each enjoyed themselves and took different things away....
Rei has been making her own scenery for her own 'Bear Hunt'.....
Watch this space for Part 2!

Izzy 3:2 Drawing and Talking

Izzy talked a lot throughout this activity, she was so precise with her drawings and words.
Here are a few things she told me as she drew....
This is Daddies car
Road
Grass
Mountain
Snow ... Snowman flying up the hill
That's it's head
Monsters house...scary monsters house
Mummies house
(she drew lines across the page, putting Mummies house at one side and the monsters house at the other-side)

She chose another piece of paper...
That's a big snowman (looking at the same drawing she said)
That's a big spoon

She got upset and said
Can't do grass (she pointed to some small squiggles on the first piece of paper)

She scribbled large strokes from one side of the paper to the other many times and said....
A mess

Izzy 3:2 Washing hands

Izzy has been washing her hands for 2 days. She has always washed her hands outside after the toilet but not so much at home.
She is really enjoy the activity, washing her hands so well all by herself.
I am observing her and letting her get on with it, there is a reason that she needs to do this activity again and again!

Izzy 3:2 Role play: talking to the animals

Izzy was engaged all morning with these animals, sometimes with her sister and sometimes alone.
At one point she was laughing so much I asked what was happening and she said "everyone is laughing at the Elephant doing this". The Elephant was lying on its side.

Izzy 3:2 Sandpaper letters

Izzy holds the pen well, she saw me using the pen and wanted to use it.
She has begun to understand letters and what they are for, she recognises the letters in her name when we are out and about.

Izzy 3:2 Cutting lined paper

Izumi has very good skill using the scissors and I think I need to introduce some more complex cutting as she really enjoys this activity.

Izzy 3:2 Brown Stairs

Izzy enjoyed building the stairs independently.

Izzy 3:2 Shopping game

Izzy 3:2 pegging board

We both had our own boards and we worked parallel. After a while she noticed my board where I had lined up my pegs in their colors, she offered to help and lined the board with whatever color she picked up.

Izzy 3:2 Number rods & cards

Was good to see izzy choose to do her 'numbers'. She was able to count the rods and find the matching number (with some help).

Izzy 3:1 Japanese Rice ball containers

These boxes are from Japan and they use them to make 'Onigiri' which is rice balls, sometimes plain and sometimes with fillings.
Izzy found these a huge challenge because they will only clip together in the right position and with the triangle shape this means there are two positions where the box will not close!!!
