Izzy 3:5 Chopsticks

Today Izzy used her chopsticks perfectly, they are always on the table and the whole family use them.
No one showed her, she has just watched us using them and instinctively used hand and fingers together, the power of 'vertical learning' and 'role modelling' at it's best!!!

Izzy 3:5 The Dentist

Izzy has always been to the Dentist with her siblings, she would sit on my lap and open her mouth for the Dentist. Today she was a big girl sitting on the by herself.

Izzy & big brother 3:5 Seasons

This activity I made in Japan for the older children when we were planning to move back to the UK. It was wonderful to find it again, it brings back sweet memories.
Big brother set it out and Izzy itched to join in, her brother made her wait for 'her turn'.
She enjoyed placing the pieces around the Sun and even though she did not match them up she used logic and shape knowledge to place this puzzle together.

Izzy 3:5 Numbers & Counters

We have been using this activity with the numbers up to 5 and she was in need of a challenge. I was at the mat with her and with my support she was able to finish the activity using numbers up to 10.

I left the girls in the kitchen and they made cakes, they also made name flags that they stuck in the cakes..Izzy wrote iac (Cai backwards.

Izzy 3:5 Brown Stair

Rolling batteries down the stairs.. She was so excited, the sound was wonderful. Adding the Pink Tower was not as much fun as the battery did not roll as well.

Izzy 3:5 The Sun

Izzy chose a book on the Planets to look at tonight and we chatted with her sister about The Sun, Mercury, the stars and other planets.
As she settled down to sleep she said "Thats The Sun....the light is the Sun". She was looking at the light bulb in our room. Good listening Izzy x

Izzy 3:5 Travelling Number Bag

The big girls are learning time tables, when they know a set we write them on separate pieces of paper, fold them and put them in a bag. They can take a few slips from the bag randomly throughout the day, in the car on a bus and test themselves. They are getting good and their confidence is building.
Izzy of course is very interested so I made her own bag with the numbers 1 to 13 and she opens the slips of paper and reads her numbers, she also enjoys folding them back up and putting them back in the bag.
Great for holidays, car journeys or just in the house. We will make a letter bag to take on holiday with us xx

Izzy 3:5 Map making

We made our own map today, I drew and she told me what to put in each room, she put a cuddly toy on her sisters bed and her brother got a chair.
When we had finished she used the map to find something we had hid in one of the rooms.
Definitely we will be exploring with maps again!!!

Izzy 3:4 Multiplication Board !!!

Yes that's right she is using a multiplication board... Yes a Genius!!!!
Ah no, not yet anyway, she was watching her sister use the board and wanted to use it, we started adding the beads to their corresponding numbers but she soon wanted to put the beads all over the board, go for it Izzy....great pincer practice ))

Izzy 3:4 Following the Map!!

When we arrived I opened the map to see where we should go, we followed the map for about five minutes, talking about what we had found and where it was on the map..... That was it, Izzy had the map for the rest of the day, pointing to where she wanted to go... Showing us where we were. She enjoyed herself so much and was so careful with her map, folding it back together slowly not to rip it.
We are going to make our own map, starting with a map from our house to her sisters school tomorrow.

Izzy 3:4 Look it's a star!

We were walking when Izzy looked up and said "a star", we had not noticed it. We climbed to the top where she found her star again!!

Izzy 3:4 Welsh Castles

Izzy was with her big sister, they had so much fun exploring, opening doors, climbing stairs.

Izzy 3:4 Running in the Valleys

We went to the Welsh Valleys to see our family. Good family has a huge impact on a child, it was good to see Izzy interacting well with family that she only gets to see a few times a year.
