It took Izzy 2 days to Color all of the Continents, she is very interested in Antarctica.

Izzy 3:7 Colour Box 3

We have been using Colour Box 3 for a while and I always encourage some discussion on the Colour she choose, things that are the same Colour or a food the same Colour, just following her interest with no pressure.
Today we talked about light and dark Green and we separated into 2 piles... Light or Dark. Then starting with the lighter pile I asked which was the lightest and she was able to correctly line them up. Then we added in the second darker pile and again she correctly added them to the lighter shades.
I think making smaller groups she was able to concentrate more and less distracted by a large pile of Colour tablets.
Her grading skills were more challenged with the 2 piles as each pile was closer in Colour and less easy to spot a big change such as the lightest green to the darkest green.
As always if she wants to explore at the end of the presentation I let her!!

We were walking in the park when we came across this tree...
We discussed it for quite a while, here are a few things she said...

Later that day we took her brother & sisters to see it and we talked about the rings of the tree showing it's age....they averaged 45 to 60 !!!

Not sure who enjoyed this more...... She is a bit old now, but I enjoyed the practice and can't wait to use this material with izzy. Maths making sense!!!

Izzy 3:7 Short Bead Stair

I put this out a few days ago to see if she has any interest and Ta Da.... She likes it a lot.... I wanted to present the activity but she just wanted to freely explore with it, so I let her and told her that I wanted to show her something wonderful with this activity and to let me know when she was ready.
Yesterday she asked to do the activity together, she enjoyed the presentation so much and she was definitely able to follow the order of the activity. Glad I waited and Followed The Child!!
Today she brought the Short Bead Stair and Numbers and showed me what a clever girl she is xx

Izzy 3:7 Knobbed Cylinders

Izzy has freely been using the Knobbed Cylinders again, good that they are always out ready for her to use. She is able to place the cylinders back so much quicker than a few months ago, she barely looks at the cylinders but gets it right most of the time.
She has so much fun exploring these materials !!

Been a busy few weeks!!! Since starting nursery she has had a mental & physical growth spurt.....she loves being with her friends and family.

Izzy 3:7 Exploring with the Golden Beads

Izzy's big sister has been using the Golden Bead Material and Izzy has been watching with itchy fingers.
I feel if she is able to reach it, she should be able to use it!!
So I let her explore the materials and encouraged her to count them back into their boxes, giving her trust and independence. Also letting her use hand eye coordination and reinforcing her maths skills of counting, space and area.

We are a house of sleep where you want... Bed time is around 8pm with plenty of reading time, the girls are all asleep by 9pm...
Izzy has always slept with me and my husband, this week we moved the two big girls into their own room and made a space for Izzy's futon, she is very excited to have her own space... Will she sleep there tonight???...I'll tell you tomorrow. Xx
